This course is designed for enabling students to develop, implement, and evaluate the
instructional design to make the learning more effective and enjoyable. It provides students
with the fundamentals of instructional design including the principles of learning theory, and
instructional strategies that are relevant to instructional design. This course aims to develop
facilitating skills, resource management of training, material development, and designing the
learning assets. The course helps professionals to deliver training effectively by applying
different ways of facilitation skills and methods creating a positive learning environment for
adults and youth.
The course covers the following four modules.
Module 1: Introduction to instructional design.
Module 2: Instructional design and delivery.
Module 3: Planning and executing session.
Module 4: Develop the proper ID for training.

The course gives students an opportunity to practise and improve their writing skills in English. It focuses on the basics of academic writing and provides a strong foundation for writing and publishing scholarly papers. Moreover, it equips students with the skills of academic design standards as per the American Psychological Association’s (APA) style manual. The general aim of the course is therefore to help students to develop as writers and prepare them for future academic career. The course basically helps students to identify and address writing issues that they, as novice researchers, commonly experience. Moreover, it will enable them to plan, write and organize their scholarly works effectively. The scope of the course covers aspects of the writing process, internal organization, formatting style (citation and references), external structure, academic integrity and more.
Attending this course will not make you a prolific writer overnight, but will certainly make you a better prepared scholar who can cope with the challenges of academic writing at Kathmandu University School of Education and beyond.
